Program reach
Placement totals reflect annual placements across the 2023–2026 cohorts; some participants returned in multiple years.
I created and directed SAIRI, an intensive summer research program at Morgan State's Center for Equitable AI and Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS), from 2023 through 2026.

SAIRI introduces undergraduate students to theoretical and applied research in socially responsible and trustworthy AI, with a focus on complex real-world challenges. Its goal is to broaden the diversity of thought in AI by recruiting interdisciplinary talent from underrepresented groups and giving them a comprehensive, in-person research experience.
Designed for students with varying majors and levels of experience, the program takes participants through the complete research journey, from project selection to oral presentations. Undergraduate teams, guided by graduate and faculty mentors, work in areas such as healthcare, sustainability, transportation, cybersecurity, and education, in a collaborative, inclusive environment focused on ethical, responsible AI. High school teachers also take part as participants. Each summer ran nine to ten weeks, full time, with stipends of up to $8,000, and included professional development, career preparation, lab tours, and field trips.
